-The congress featured important speakers from America and Europe who presented the advances, main solutions and strategies to develop the maritime-port and logistics industry in Latin America, and presented the progress made to reduce total greenhouse gas emissions. Wednesday, July 26, 2023.- The largest meeting of the maritime-port and logistics industry for Latin America, Trans-Port 2023, took place today at the Metropolitan Santiago convention center, located at Av. San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer 5600, Vitacura. With the participation of national and international guests and with the support of the Undersecretary of Transportation, Jorge Daza, the event provided a space designed for commercial exchange, the introduction of new technologies, and the debate on current advances and challenges in the industry, offering a rich program of dialogues and keynote speeches with a focus on innovation. In its IX version of the International Congress “Net Zero – Digital: Building New Standards for a Transport and Foreign Trade Ecosystem”, the options for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and the digital strategy that is currently required were presented, taking advantage of all the emerging technologies of recent times, delivering new value to industries. “The meeting provides an opportunity to discuss and propose a space for coordination and exchange of ideas on this strategy. That is why I urge the actors of the maritime-port and logistics industry in Latin America to join this vision, and collaborate in implementing new technologies and promoting the use of clean energy in our operations,” said the Undersecretary of Transportation, Jorge Daza. “In this scenario, the shared vision that unites us is to provide a sustainable and responsible future that guarantees efficient and environmentally conscious transportation and foreign trade. The challenge posed in this congress around its title, which is the implementation of a comprehensive strategy called Net Zero Digital, is aligned with Chile’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 at the latest. Together, we can define new standards for a transport and foreign trade ecosystem that is stronger, more competitive and committed to our planet and its inhabitants,” added Daza. He also stressed that “the Net Zero Digital strategy gives us an ambitious vision for the future of decarbonization. We are creating a path towards sustainability, efficiency and corporate social responsibility, which strengthens the public-private partnership, we can improve the performance and productivity of operations, reduce costs and consumption”. For his part, Rodrigo Lobo, executive director of Trans-Port 2023, reaffirmed the importance of the sector’s relationship and the development they present for the industry. “The meeting offered a space for discussion and networking, presenting a program that focuses on the need for all transport and logistics ecosystems to incorporate a joint Net-Zero and Digital strategy in their businesses and services. We are happy to meet again, highlighting the importance of development and innovation in maritime-port logistics, with a large portfolio of exhibitors and a significant participation of visitors.” TALKS AND DIALOGUES After the opening ceremony, the Plenary Session “Integral Challenges between Logistics Ecosystems, Territories and Environment” began with the presentation of Santiago Bassols, general director of Barcelona-Catalunya Logistics Center, and Mark van Koningsveld, Professor of Ports and Waterways at Delf University of Technology in the Netherlands. The event presented the experience of two leading countries and port cities, which are integrating the development of the territories where they operate into the industrial-logistic ecosystem, with emphasis on sustainable development. Subsequently, three talks were held: “From strategy to practice. How Net-Zero is incorporated into the business of maritime and logistics ecosystems”, “Use of emerging technology to minimize port and supply chain security risks” and “New planning and management capabilities driven by Digital Twin port”. In addition, three dialogues were held at Trans-Port 2023: “Addressing disruptive maritime events with greater public-private coordination and collaborative technologies”, “New collaborative frontiers at the port land interface” and “Increasing the ability to synchronize intermodal services between ports, modes and shippers”. On the occasion, the latest global advances in fuels, technologies and regulations to implement the energy transition and decarbonization of operations were reported; trends in cybersecurity that strengthens the security of data and operations in the international logistics chain; and how technologies such as the Digital Twin are allowing to make the most of all the information collected by the transactional systems to put it at the service of continuous improvement of port operations. The congress was attended by more than 40 speakers from 10 countries in the Americas and Europe, both from the public and private sectors, with extensive experience and expertise in the maritime port world. The meeting ended with a Networking, where visitors shared their ideas, establishing business relationships and networking, being the ideal space between supply and demand of the industry, knowing new opportunities for innovation and development of the sector. “We hope that these topics of global interest, together with the dialogue of the participants, have contributed to clarify the necessary interventions, both from the public and private sectors, contributing a grain of sand to the current discussion that the industry has around its new national logistics and ports policy led by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications with the maritime, port and logistics sector of the country,” added Lobo. Finally, the undersecretary of Transport stressed: “We have to adopt a bold vision, where the digital component enters. Digital technologies are a powerful tool that allows us to optimize our processes, improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of operations.
