With a positive balance, the three days of the VII International Congress “Digitalization and Sustainability: The challenges of the port maritime industry” Trans-Port 2021, organized by Fisa, culminated. The Congress was attended by 70 rapporteurs, of which 18 were outstanding professional women in the sector. It was attended by representatives from 24 countries, experts from both the public and private sectors. Topics such as: Challenges and Trends for Maritime Authorities were addressed; Women as a Factor of Change and Sustainability in the Maritime-Port Industry: 2030 Agenda; Public Policies for Port Development; Trade and Transport Facilitation; Green Fuels in Maritime Transport; Digitalization and sustainability-the new trends in Digital Transformation Projects. In the same way, the most important projects to be developed in Chile were shown, such as the San Antonio Outer Port project and Terminal 2 of the Port of Valparaíso, among others. The executive director of Trans-Port, Rodrigo Lobo said that “in the context of public policies, Trans-Port 2021 served as a showcase to disseminate the advances in digital transformation from the maritime, foreign trade, port and transport authorities. In view of the necessary dematerialization of administrative procedures for trade and transport facilitation (Single Windows for Trade and Maritime Single Windows), the public sector must promote support programs to accelerate innovation and collaboration between entrepreneurs and research centers together with the maritime-port industry. Cases such as the Spanish one and in Chile with Conecta Logística, point in this direction”. Rodrigo Lobo added that “Trans-Port 2021 closes with a very interesting message coined from its panelists and with a view to deepening without haste, but without pause, the digital transformation and the adoption of sustainability objectives: Democratizing data and information in the maritime-port industry will be the key to developing more intelligence and greater resilience capabilities.” The congress and exhibition was held in hybrid format, which made it easier for exhibitors from different countries to interact directly with decision makers in the sector and have the opportunity to meet in networking to update the knowledge of professionals linked to the industry. They exchanged experiences and innovations related to the maritime port sector. During Trans-Port 2021, the most important projects to be developed in Chile were exhibited, such as the Puerto Exterior San Antonio project and terminal 2 of the Port of Valparaíso, among others. Technical field visit At the end of the Congress, a technical visit to the port of San Antonio was made to the facilities of DP World and San Antonio International Terminal (STI) in which Chilean and foreign visitors could appreciate with their own eyes the operation in the field of port operations. This reveals a large potential market for new business and enormous opportunities for suppliers in the sector, as well as enormous challenges for the public and private sectors in order to update regulations and facilitate the corresponding investment flows in these frameworks. In this context, Trans-Port 2021, made decisive progress in identifying the various markets that will allow the development of this sector to be projected, which contributes to the economies of the countries of the region, convening Chilean and Latin American entrepreneurs, suppliers and authorities in an ideal instance to exchange knowledge, experiences and technologies. The International Congress was inaugurated by the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt and also attended by the President of the Public Enterprise System, Loreto Seguel. In the closing ceremony, the manager of Trans-Port, Rodrigo Lobo announced that the next Congress will be held in September 2022 in the Valparaíso Region.
