1818 was the truly founding year of the Chilean Navy, and the relevant milestones were the Naval Combat of Valparaiso, the Sailing of the First National Squadron, the foundation of the Academy of Young Marine Guards – prior to the current Naval School and also the creation of the National Merchant Marine. Throughout this time, the Chilean Navy has been closely linked to maritime-port work. 2018 will be the year of the Navy Bicentennial, under the theme “Chilean Navy, 200 years navigating to the service of the country with tradition and vision”, to be held with an extensive program that will conclude with the XI version of Exponaval and VI of Trans-Port.TRANS-PORT reaches 10 years
Under the long-term policy study for port development, the expansion of maritime trade and the analysis of threats to the safety of navigation in some areas of the world, the first TRANS-PORT version was carried out in 2008, in conjunction with the VI Exponaval version, on the premises of the Passenger Terminal located in Baron pier, Valparaiso. Since then, 5 different versions have been made, varying the exhibition site, without leaving Valparaíso, which is the symbolic heart of the Chilean maritime-port industry facing the world.
The VI version of this international exhibition will be held for the third time in the fairground of the Concón Aeronaval Base, located in Torquemada. The site has the most extensive facilities thanks to the military installations of the Chilean Navy, as well as the civil installations of the aerodrome located next to it, sharing a wide runway and spaces for the exhibition, both in covered and discovered areas. La Base is just a few minutes from the center of Viña del Mar and the Valparaiso port, with direct access from Santiago and its airport via the International Route. Complementing the exhibition, the parallel program of Exponaval 2018 also considers an extensive program of technical conferences and demonstration exercises in both the fairground and the bay of Valparaiso.
